Last frost was Friday, so me and Maw done planted the west forty. Okay, technically it's 32 square feet instead of 40 acres, but it's planted. A couple of varieties of lettuce, a few tomatoes, peppers, beans, marigolds, peas, cucumber, onions, chives, basil, cilantro, parsley, nasturtiums.
The ferocious watch-mutt is in the southwest field, gazing at a 
young heron who was sitting on a branch of the tree just off the deck. I tried getting pictures of him, but the sky was cloudy and his grey plumage made him fade into the background. Other marsh visitors include a pair of Canadian geese who are wading out back right now, and possibly a bobcat a few days ago.

We still have a few more weeks before it is safe to plant outside. I am super jealous of our gardening in the outside dirt.
