Witty, but the appropriate rejoinder from the co-worker would be:
"Yes, of course. But some of those I surround myself are selected for other reasons, such as sarcasm, rather than intelligence."

One liners are funny, but I have found that, after having beaten myself out of the habit, I think the habit was a sign of weakness. There are better modes of interaction that are more satisfying (IME).
