Alternative theory: He was creepy enough to make creeping guys flee.
I'm not saying this is the case, just it is one possible explanation.
That wouldn't explain why the girls had him around in the first place.
We've all known women of dubious judgement. I submit most of my married friends are proof positive of this. LOL! :0)
