Someone once said that "The easiest change to manage is that which you initiate." One way or another, the way governments do business is going to change. Republicans seem to get this; Democrats, not so much.
Currently reading Jos. A. Schumpeter's "Capitalism, Socialism, and Democracy" (1942). There's gold on every page, and he describes in great detail how we would get to where we are today. Many of his conclusions are eerily prescient.
