Unfortunately I live in a part of the country where the sky is not really visible 7 months out of the year. Would have been nice to see.

The best total lunar I've seen was a few years ago when the full moon was low in the Western sky. That was impressive.

That's an interesting explanation with a good visual of what a lunar eclipse is and why we don't get them more often. It has to do with the moon's orbital plane with respect to the earth compared to the earth's orbital plane with respect to the sun.

Space is neat. Things that let us visualize that or see into it are pretty nifty.
