Across the border
I get exasperated with our country quite often, but...it could be worse. Haiti just had a 7.0 earthquake, and Mexico is a mess.

45,000+ dead, possibly 100,000?
Haiti is more than a mess, its annihilated. 3 Million injured and/or displaced? Hospitals flattened?
They are already talking disaster in the aftermath due to:
- contaminated water supplies
- no food or water supplies
- no medical supplies
- too many dead people that are supposed to be the responders
- already a poor, somewhat lawless place
- lots and lots and lots of dead bodies
- already all sorts of issues with sanitation and disease
- very small window to rescue the survivors that might be trapped, but a lot of dead and a lot of collapsed infrastructure
This is pretty horrendous. And I feel stupid for even saying that because it is such an understatement of the reality. It's bad and only going to get a lot worse before the end. And there will be desperation and desperate acts too.
