Newspapers

If you don’t read the newspaper you are uninformed. If you do read the newspaper you are misinformed.

It used to be under the Soviet system that they had two papers. Izvestya (news) and Pravda (truth). The droll Russians had a saying:

"There is no Pravda in Izvestya, and no Izvestya in Pravda."

THat which is informative lacks truth, that which is true is uninformative.

Same old same old.

I read somewhere a few weeks or months ago that many newspapers are going under because people get most of their news off the web and just don't read the paper anymore. Maybe laptops and internet cafes are so common now that they're an easy and ready source. They have color pictures and videos too. Plus quick links to related information. I don't know what I think about the decline in newspaper readership really, except a newspaper can go anywhere with you, you don't have to have anything more expensive than enough light to read by, a pair of glasses and the price of the print.
